Maybe it's my age (older), but this book really spoke to me, and I'll look forward to reading it again!Judithhttps://readerinthewilderness.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7543676375857581295.post-80397821245190685742023-01-29T17:15:19.624-05:002023-01-29T17:15:19.624-05:00I can understand being annoyed and moving on from ...I can understand being annoyed and moving on from a series. I'm afraid that I need to disagree that she was deliberately writing weak books to break her contract. Perhaps you have a source for this? I have read a number of her books since then and her writing is absolutely superlative, to my mind and in my experience. It sounds like something I'd really enjoy. I also have a copy of Fellowship Point to read, but I keep reading mixed reviews. Some say it's too slow or bogs down in the middle. I'll still give it a try.Les in Oregonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15053880852764886416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7543676375857581295.post-5079239801103589042023-01-21T17:37:20.252-05:002023-01-21T17:37:20.252-05:00I got so annoyed with Elizabeth George when she ki...I got so annoyed with Elizabeth George when she killed Helen that I stopped reading the series. I thought I would miss it but for a while she was writing deliberately weak books to break or end her contract. I totally agree! And housework, for sure, is not a pastime, it's sheer drudgery. I know what you mean about possibly reading too much and neglecting other pastimes, but when it comes to housework, sometimes I just have to buckle down and - read a book!Katrinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18138715309807238198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7543676375857581295.post-2637944347403437272023-01-12T17:06:36.764-05:002023-01-12T17:06:36.764-05:00Hi Tracy,

Part of me thinks that maybe I devoted too much of my time to reading last year, neglecting other pastimes. Not sure about this, just something I'm considering. I would happier about that if I had actually reviewed more books. Oh well.

I will look for a copy of These Silent Woods. May be too suspenseful for me but the setting and the premise sounds very good.
TracyKhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08303342674824383688noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7543676375857581295.post-89078653765401827802023-01-11T13:53:13.061-05:002023-01-11T13:53:13.061-05:00You had a great reading year, congrats! I like how it gradually builds and keeps you invested along the way ... and of course I liked the woodsy remote atmosphere. I thought the ending could've been a bit more, but other than that it was an enjoyable slow-burn thriller that kept me pretty glued to it. Cheers. thecuecardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08870323589682197091noreply@blogger.com
